Welcome to The George Washington Carver STEM School!
Our State Report Card now shows us the progress that we are making at Carver! We are meeting Ohio Department of Education Expectations for Progress and are continuing to rise to the top! Our team is working hard to continue to make our families and the Central Community proud of GWC. As the leaves change color and the air turns crisp, we find ourselves embracing the heart of autumn. This month, we have a special focus on a skill that is not only fundamental but also magical: Reading!!!
Reading provides an opportunity for us to:
- Dive into different worlds without leaving our homes.
- Build strong language and cognitive skills.
- Strengthen the bond between parent and child with shared stories.
We invite all students to join our "October Reading Odyssey!" Every student who reads for at least 20 minutes each day
and logs it will receive a special recognition at the end of the month.
1. Set the Scene: Create a cozy reading nook with blankets, pillows, and soft lighting.
2. Lead by Example: Let your child see you reading regularly.
3. Visit the Library: Weekly trips can be a fun outing and offer a wide selection of new books.
4. Discuss Books: Engage your child by discussing the stories you read. Ask open-ended questions about characters, plot, and lessons learned.
We believe that every child has the potential to become a passionate reader. With your support at home and our efforts at school, we can foster a lifelong love for reading.

October 31st: Dress up as your favorite character for our Halloween Parade
